The king of the banana goes bankrupt

Founded in 1968, this company has been one of the pillars of the sector thanks to imports of fruits such as banana, from which it derived its nickname, but also from the production of many other fruits and vegetables. During the period 1970-2000, it was the company having achieved the largest sales figure in the Halles of Fruits and Vegetables of Istanbul.
In the 1990s, it turned to importing large quantities of bananas but continued to produce fruits and vegetables in the Antalya and Alanya regions.
The problems encountered in the importation of bananas as well as investments too important to be profitable led to bankruptcy, pronounced at the end of November by the Commercial Court of Istanbul.
