This increase is the result of better fruiting in the productive areas, favored by optimal weather conditions, making this season the best in the last three years.
A significant increase is anticipated for the new Hass avocado season in Chile, which starts in September of this year. The Chilean Avocado Committee estimates that the harvest for the 2024-25 cycle will reach 200 thousand tons, which represents a 33.3% increase compared to the 150 thousand tons of the previous period.
This increase responds to better fruiting in the productive areas, favored by optimal weather conditions, which makes this season the best in the last three years, according to Carmen Gloria Lüttges, president of the guild.
It is projected that 55% of production, equivalent to 110 thousand tons, will be destined for the domestic market.
As for exports, 90 thousand tons are expected to be sent abroad, with Europe as the main destination (74%), followed by Latin America (10.9%), Asia (10.2%) and the United States (5.3%). Argentina will continue to be a key market in Latin America due to its growing interest in avocado.
