On the occasion of the Franco-German seminar on alternatives to pesticides held at the French Embassy in Berlin, a joint declaration of intent was signed between INRAe (Institut national de recherche pour l'agriculture, l'alimentation et l'environnement) and JKI (Julius Kühn-Institut).
This declaration aims to strengthen and structure a joint contribution to the development of future crop production systems in the context of climate change in France and Germany. Scientific activities will focus on the development of resilient and sustainable agricultural production systems, the selection of resistant and resource-efficient genotypes, the sustainable use of natural resources and adaptation to climate change, agroecology, and information and communication technologies.
This declaration gives concrete expression to the historic collaboration between the 2 organizations, involved in research into new grape varieties tolerant to foliar diseases, members of the Wheat Initiative, and initiators of the European Research Alliance "Towards a chemical pesticide-free agriculture/ Vers une agriculture sans pesticides chimiques", which now brings together 24 research organizations from 16 countries.
