Superior orange production for the 2019/20 season

According to the latest estimates, the Brazilian orange harvest should be 34.7% higher than the previous one.

 

 

 

Higher production estimates for the Brazilian citrus belt (Sao Paulo and the Triângulo Mineiro) for the 2019/20 season have been confirmed by Fundecitrus (Citrus Defense Fund). These data indicate that the current harvest should be 34.7% larger than the previous one and could total 385.31 million boxes of 40.8 kilograms of oranges.

 

 

 

The decrease in rains will lead to a reduction in fruit size. The number of fruits per box, 260 estimated by Fundecitrus in May, increased to 262 according to the estimate in December. Another indication, a smaller amount of late oranges this year.

 

 

 

Brazil is one of the main orange-producing countries and the N°1 worldwide for orange juice whose production totaled 1.23 million tonnes in 2018.
