The FLIA 2024 winners

Visitors to Fruit Logistica 2024 (07-09 February) voted during the first 2 days of the show and chose the winners of the innovation prize

 

The FLIA was awarded to Unica Fresh for Zucchiolo, which received more than half the votes.

This oval-shaped vegetable is not a new variety of courgette, but a vegetable representing a whole new category of products on the European market. It can be eaten fresh and raw in a salad, like a cucumber, or cooked like a courgette or aubergine. 

 

The FLIA Technology award went to Koppert for its Mirical concept, pest control in a box.

The Mirical predatory bug (Macrolophus pygmaeus) fights whitefly, which frequently infests greenhouse vegetables. Instead of using plastic, Koppert supplies these predatory insects in strips of corrugated cardboard and a cardboard tray, both of which can be attached directly to the plants. As well as making the predatory insect more effective, the concept also means that the product is fully compostable.
