The company highlighted new berry genetics and breeding developments for growers at Fruit Attraction 2026.
Fall Creek presented new blueberry varieties and an expanded berry portfolio at Fruit Attraction 2026. The company highlighted its latest breeding developments, including new varieties for different growing conditions, as well as its expansion into raspberries and blackberries.
New blueberry varieties
Among the main introductions were Everlast™ ‘FC11-164’ from the Fall Creek Collection and Sekoya® Nova ‘FC15-173’ from the Sekoya platform.
The company also presented low-chill blueberry varieties, including Sekoya Pop® ‘FCM14-052’, designed for production in regions with warmer winters.
Fall Creek shared findings from a consumer survey conducted across seven major premium blueberry markets. Respondents identified soft fruit and early spoilage as common reasons for dissatisfaction, while flavour remained an important factor in purchasing decisions.
According to Paul Nselel, Chief Commercial Officer at Fall Creek, improving fruit condition, shelf life and taste through breeding could benefit growers and retailers while encouraging repeat purchases.
Different solutions for growers
Fall Creek operates two main blueberry platforms. The Fall Creek Collection offers varieties suited to different climates and production needs, together with technical support for growers.
Sekoya focuses on premium blueberries and brings together producers from several growing regions to support year-round supply.
Teun Leenders, EMEA Commercial Manager, explained that selecting varieties requires considering local growing conditions, harvesting plans and market demand.
Expansion into other berries
Beyond blueberries, Fall Creek is developing its raspberry and blackberry business.
The expanded portfolio includes raspberry varieties Amalia Rossa® ‘BTRASFOUR’ and Easy Rose® ‘ALEL101’. The move brings more than 30 years of Rubus breeding experience into the company's operations.
Fall Creek also announced details of Berry Business Week 2027, including a Global Field + Forum event dedicated to low-chill production, scheduled for March 18, 2027, in Seville, Spain.
Founded in Oregon in 1978, Fall Creek supplies more than 40 million plants annually across over 100 varieties to growers in more than 65 countries.
