Closing of the season and lower production

Freshuelva announced the production 2012-2013 lower than the previous.

Freshueva, the Association of Producers and Exporters of Huelva, announced that the 2012-2013 season ended with a total production of 274,800 tons of strawberries. A decrease of 10% compared to the previous year. This decline in production is also accompanied by a decrease in total revenue. Decrease by 20% with 315.6 million €, the average price of strawberries dropped by 14% this season.

The production is divided between the market for fresh consumption (67.6% or 185,800 tonnes) and the industry (32.3% or 89 000 tonnes). Planted areas were by 6.7% higher than in the previous year.
