Stone Fruit: full production and super quality

The next campaign proves to be very promising.
The Stone Fruit Committee (apricot, cherry, plum, peach and nectarine), at the initiative of FEPEX, consists of representatives of associations of producers and exporters of the main regions (Andalucía, Murcia, Extremadura, Aragon, La Rioja , Cataluña, Comunidad Valenciana) will meet soon in Madrid.
The meeting will analyze the prospects of the campaign which promises full production and excellent quality. The weather conditions were very favorable for good development of fruit and optimistic forecasts for the production.
In Spain, stone fruits are the main crops after citrus. In 2013, the areas of peaches and nectarines totaled 82,124 hectares, cherries 32,077 hectares, apricots 20,676 hectares, plums 14,086 hectares. Exports amounted to 342 055 tons for peaches (21% compared to 2012), for nectarines 406,908 tons (+15%), for apricots 61,763 tons (+47%), for plums 71,652 tons (-32%), for cherries 26,394 tons (+2%).
