According to its data, exports of clementines are expected to decrease by 35% and mandarins by 9%. On the other hand, exports of oranges will decrease by 2%, while exports of lemons are expected to increase by 33%.
Clementine exports will be reduced to 40,000 tons, which is 35% less than in the previous season, due to water shortages in the main producing areas of the Coquimbo region. Mandarin exports are expected to reach 160,000 tons, a 9% decrease compared to the previous year.
Orange exports will remain relatively stable compared to the previous season, with a 2% decrease in the volume exported, equivalent to 93,000 tons. As for lemons, a 33% increase in exports is expected, reaching 90,000 tons.
Citrus plantations are distributed between the Atacama and O'Higgins regions, with a total of 27,813 hectares. According to CIREN's latest cadaster, the Metropolitan Region has the largest planted area, reaching 8,361 hectares.
In terms of species, the lemon tree leads the nationwide plantations with 9,199 hectares, followed by the mandarin tree with 7,800 hectares and the orange tree with 6,600 hectares.
