Tensions over relations between Europe and Russia, accentuated by economic sanctions banning the export of food products, have created opportunities for African businesses.
The ban on exporting European food products to Russia led to a reduction of imported fruits and vegetables on the domestic market. Several African countries have identified this market opportunity.
South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda plan to further increase their exports to the Russian market of agricultural products, particularly fruits and vegetables.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, tropical fruits and vegetables, processed fruits and vegetables, dried or canned. Production in Africa is growing, which will allow the continued growth of its exports and in particular to the Russian market.
Thus, in 2017 Egyptian exports to Russia increased by 30% and experts believe that they should still progress.
