The countries of the Middle East account for 27 per cent of Turkish fruit and vegetable exports and are also important consumers of citrus fruits of Turkish origin. This is why it was unthinkable that Turkey is not at this fair, which is the opportunity to meet its major buyers.
With 4 million tons of production and export value of one million dollars, the most competitive advantages of Turkish citrus fruits are their unique taste and quality, but also proximity. The promotion of Turkish fruits and vegetables, especially citrus fruit, has been taken care of at national level through various promotion groups of products of Turkish origin (dried fruits, citrus fruits, olives, etc.).
Thanks to these promotion groups, a concept of "Turkish product" was developed with a slogan "Discover the Turkish potential" and modern marketing techniques to promote Turkish products.
In particular, the citrus fruit promotion group aims to increase its market share in the Arab countries. Currently, 26 per cent of the exported citrus fruits leave for Iraq, 9 per cent for Saudi Arabia and 2 per cent for the United Arab Emirates.
