From January to October 2023, cumulative exports of banana boxes from Ecuador reached 292.38 million, representing an increase of 6.36% compared to the same term in 2022, when 274.90 million boxes were registered (photo: camae.org).
The statistical report for the period January to October 2023 on exports and classification of the banana sector, issued by the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador and prepared by the Banana Statistical Observatory, reveals a 6.36% growth in banana exports compared to the same period of the previous year, although pre-pandemic levels are not yet reached.
From January to October 2023, cumulative banana box exports reached 292.38 million, representing an increase of 6.36% compared to the same term in 2022, when 274.90 million boxes were recorded.
The top 3 shares by region are made up of the European Union (29.30%), Russia (21.40%) and the Middle East (14.50%). These three regions contributed a total of 190.64 million cases.
Some regions experienced negative variations in their cumulative exports: Eastern Europe (-31.68%), EFTA Europe (-12.99%), Central Asia (-3.36%). These three regions dropped a total of 2.49 million cases in October compared to 2022.
