Peru blueberry exports drop sharply in early 2026

Peru exported 43,920,659 kilos of blueberries worth $253,689,637 between January and March 2026, marking a 55% decline in volume and a 54% drop in value compared with the same period in 2025, according to data from Agrodata. In the first quarter of 2025, shipments reached 387,814,895 kilos valued at $2,184,689,070.
The average export price in the first three months of 2026 stood at $5.78 per kilo, slightly higher than the $5.63 per kilo recorded a year earlier, indicating firmer unit returns despite the sharp contraction in shipments.
Exports slowed steadily through the quarter. In January 2026, Peru shipped 26,215,752 kilos worth $151,766,739 at an average price of $5.79 per kilo. February exports totalled 14,638,222 kilos valued at $79,064,364, with an average price of $5.40 per kilo. By March, shipments fell to 3,066,685 kilos worth $22,858,534, although the average price increased to $7.45 per kilo, up from $6.06 per kilo in March 2025.
Market data show the United States remained the leading destination for Peruvian blueberries, with export value reaching $174,085,000 in 2026, compared with $1,038,813,000 in 2025 and $1,194,631,000 in 2024.
Shipments to the Netherlands totalled $38,086,000, down from $537,631,000 a year earlier, while exports to the United Kingdom reached $16,359,000, compared with $119,609,000 in 2025. Canada imported $3,645,000 worth of blueberries from Peru, significantly below the $28,150,000 recorded the previous year. Exports to Hong Kong dropped to $557,000, compared with $46,276,000 in 2025.
