The EU is multiplying its trade agreements and negotiations.
Ongoing or ready to enter into force and new trade negotiations, the EU seems to be strengthening its trade policy as an important engine of growth.
The EU has signed an agreement with Canada (AACC to be applied on an interim basis from the 21st of September). With Vietnam and Singapore the agreements are about to be signed. With Japan negotiations continue but a fundamental agreement has been found. Other agreements are underway with China, India, the Philippines, Chile, Australia and New Zealand. With MERCOSUR (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay), discussions are under way and agreement could be reached by the end of the year.
Trade plays a major role in European policy and should be at the center of debates of the plenary session in Strasbourg on the 13th September.
