Turkey has just opened a "garden" of truffles to increase production
Within the project for the development and expansion of the cultivation of truffles, a centre was opened on March 13, 2013 in Mugla, near Izmir.
The truffle, grown for 45% in France, 35% in Spain and 20% in Italy, could be an alternative product to the cultivation of tobacco and olives in the region for its high value-added.
The objective of the project is to increase the production of truffles, currently collected in the natural environment, and create an olive oil flavored with truffles.
