Best-ever quarter for Kenyan avocado exports to China

Kenya began exporting fresh avocados to China in August 2022. Since then, the number of approved exporters has increased, leading to a rise in exports.

According to local media reports, avocado exports to China reached 7 million kilos in volume and KES 9 billion (USD 58.7 million) in value for the period March to May 2023.

Kephis (Kenya Plants Inspectorate Service) reports that the number of exporters authorized to access the Chinese market is now 78 (58 farms and 20 packing plants). This is 25 more than in 2022.

In 2022, from August to October, avocado exports to China reached KES 7 billion (USD 45.6 million).
