Fall in onion and potato production in India

According to the Ministry of Agriculture's preliminary estimates for horticultural crops for 2023-24.

 

Local media report information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare estimating 2023-24 onion production at around 25.47 million tonnes (down 15% on the previous season's 30.21 million tonnes) and 2023-24 potato production at 58.99 million tonnes (down 2% on the previous season's 60.14 million tonnes).

 

According to Ministry figures, horticultural production in 2023-24 is estimated at around 355.25 million tonnes. Fruit should reach 112.08 million tonnes (110.21 million tonnes in 2022-23) and vegetables 209.39 million tonnes (212.55 million tonnes in 2022-23).
