Bonduelle acquires Kelet-Food

Bonduelle has bought Hungarian canning company Kelet-Food which will supply its hight growth markets in Central Europe.
Bonduelle has acquired Hungarian Cannery Kelet-Food. Bonduelle has obtained the agreement of the Hungarian authorities for the acquisition of Kelet-Food, a cannery with a capacity of 25 to 30,000 tons. Located in Nyiregyhaza, northeast of Budapest, Kelet-Food produces canned sweet corn and peas to local markets. The company produced 15,000 tons of canned food in 2011, well below
its production capacity.
The Kelet plant allows Bonduelle Food to supply its Central European markets, which are booming. The Bonduelle Group is present in Hungary for 20 years and produces 130 000 t of canned food, mainly maize and sweet peas. It has two industrial units located in the south: Nagykörös acquired in 1992 and Békéscsaba acquired in 2002.
