Fresh cherries and grapes lead exports, while China and the U.S. consolidate as main destinations
Between January and July 2024, Chilean fruit exports reached $ 6,317 million (+11.5%) with 2.3 million tons (+4.2%), according to data from the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa).
Fresh fruit accounted for 80.6% of the total, totaling Ch$ 4,657 million (+19.4%) with 1.5 million tons (+7.6%). Cherries led with $ 2,293 million (+15.9%) and 341 thousand tons (+12.7%). Ninety-one point five percent of the cherries were shipped to China.
Fresh grapes reached $ 1,070 million (+16.9%) and 519 thousand tons (+4.9%), with 61.4% going to the U.S. Fresh blueberries totaled $ 405 million (+28.1%) with 76 thousand tons (+5.4%), with the U.S. and the Netherlands as the main destinations.
Fresh plums achieved $ 314 million (+7.4%) with 169.9 thousand tons (+24.1%), while fresh apples totaled $ 390 million (+0.1%) with 372 thousand tons (+3.3%).
Processed fruits totaled $ 940 million (+6.5%) with 359 thousand tons (+5.4%), where frozen fruits stand out with $ 312.6 million (+29.1%) and 104.9 thousand tons (+28%).
As for nuts, exports totaled $ 287 million (-24.8%) with 67 thousand tons (-35.8%), led by walnuts with $ 165 million (-36.4%).
