The context seems difficult for INTERPOMA 2014

The 2014 meeting with the biennial INTERPOMA, only event in the world dedicated exclusively to the apple sector is coming.

INTERPOMA 2014 will take place between the November 20 and November 22 at Bolzano (South Tyrol/ Italy). This edition will be an important time to discuss new business strategies and trends that lie ahead. The context seems difficult between hyper expected production throughout Europe and the blockade of exports agreed by Russia.

Apart from France where it is anticipated harvest of apples in decrease (-6%) , other European countries expect a year of hyper output at 11.9 million tonnes, or +9 % compared to 2013 and +12 % on average for the past three years.

Kurt Werth , responsible for the organization of Congress ' The apple in the world,' says : ' The 2014 season promises to be rather complex in Europe for three main reasons : the hyper apple production is general , except for France and some smaller countries , the existence of large stocks of 2013, the measures taken by Russia against European countries . This last point applies not only to Poland , the country that exports the most in the Russian market but also affects other countries because the hyper Polish production will look for other opportunities. Business operators are now very concerned about the situation that may emerge in a few months. To address this situation , the quality will determine an asset and , now , the withdrawal by the industry inferior qualities' .
