Good acceptance of Panamanian pineapple in Spanish markets

In 2021, Spain became the main recipient of Panamanian pineapple in Europe, with a total of 2,347,444 kilos worth $1,106,311.00 FOB. Eric Dormoi, National Director of Export Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI) stated that in 2022, the country continues to export to this market.
As reported by the MICI, Chorrerana pineapples which arrive by air at various sale points in Spain, for example, at the Mercado Público de la Cebada in Madrid, demonstrate very good acceptance. The director of the MICI affirmed that they will continue working to accompany exporters in attracting new buyers and educate new exporters through the training offered by the ministry.
Today, approximately 10 Panamanian companies export pineapple to Europe.
In 2021, Panama exported fresh pineapple for $3,338,174.00 to Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, the Ukraine, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, the United Kingdom, and Portugal.
