Armenian agriculture boosts exports to international markets

<Armenia has exported a total of 7,575 tons of fresh fruit and vegetables since the beginning of the year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. This includes 2,429 tons of fruit and grapes, up from 2,090 tons last year, and 5,146 tons of vegetables, a significant increase on the previous year's 2,049 tons. </p><p><br></p><p>Main export destinations include Russia, Georgia, Switzerland and Iraq.</p><p><br></p><p>Armenia's National Statistics Service also reported that the agricultural sector achieved output of $2.1 billion in 2015, marking year-on-year growth of 11.7%.
Notably, fresh fruit exports reached 5,788 tons as of February 8, 2015, compared with 3,440 tons for the same period in 2014, testifying to substantial growth in this sector.
