In the Indian state of Maharashtra, heavy rains and hailstorms caused severe damage to grapes, onions, bananas and oranges.
Local media report that, according to initial estimates by the Department of Agriculture, over 90,000 hectares have been affected in 18 districts, mainly in Maharashtra North and Marathwada, but also in Vidharbha.
The crops most affected are onions, grapes, bananas and oranges.
With regard to table grape production, extensive damage was reported in the Nashik district, raising fears of a drop in export volumes over the coming weeks.
