A road transport strike leads to heavy losses for the Brazilian Fruits & Vegetables sector.
In Brazil, the Fruits & Vegetables sector estimates that the truck drivers strike that paralyzed the country resulting in losses of at least BRL 920 million (US $ 235 million).
By crippling the country, the truck drivers strike has affected many sectors, including fresh produce, which has been heavily impacted. Abrafruta (Associação Brasileira de Produtores and Exportadores de Frutas e Derivados) estimates losses at BRL 920 million (US $ 235 million) and the count is not over.
In the production and marketing of Fruits & Vegetables, mango, papaya, table grapes and guava were the most affected products.
