Just Eat now delivers any grocery item
The global leader in home delivery aims to complement the offerings of traditional retail channels.
Since launching in Spain in 2010, Just Eat Take Away has grown to include some 33,000 partners and approximately 3,000 employees. With 90% coverage of the Spanish market, Just Eat now boasts an average delivery time of about 35 minutes in Spain. “We now offer any product, not just food,” said Rodrigo Zapata, Head of Business at Just Eat Spain, during the 28th AECOC Fruits and Vegetables Congress.
“Quick Commerce” is gaining traction even with fruits and vegetables
According to Rodrigo, quick delivery orders, or “Q-Commerce,” are growing and do not cannibalize traditional shopping. “Users have gone from 3 to 5 orders a month to 5 or 6 orders a week, and not just food,” confirms Rodrigo. According to recent surveys, 76% of Q-Commerce users continue to make their usual food purchases in stores while adding 20% more online purchases.
Global reach in 15 countries
Just Eat Takeaway.com is now part of the Prosus group, which operates in Europe, India, and Latin America. Driven by food and “Fintech,” Prosus reaches some 2 billion customers worldwide. Just Eat is currently present in 15 countries, with 362,000 partners and over 60 million active users. It delivered more than 600 million orders in 2025. In Spain alone, fruit and vegetable deliveries made by Just Eat amounted to approximately 400 pallets of produce last year.
Omnichannel
E-commerce aims to meet a complementary demand for products that are not easily found in traditional local stores. “Omnichannel is a reality for 78% of consumers who use both channels,” notes Rodrigo. The latest online sales analyses outline the typical shopping profile for each day of the week. Purchases of everyday food items—including fruits and vegetables—are most commonly made on Mondays toward the end of the day.
