In 2003, the company began offering produce when it opened its first Dollar General Market store. In 2021, DG announced plans to expand its fresh fare and reached other 3,000 stores selling produce in 2023. Today, with more than 5,400 locations with produce, a large number of them are located in a meaningful number of USDA-defined “food desert” areas. Dollar General now has more individual points of produce distribution than any other mass retailer or grocer. The chain ensures grocery supplies from 32 distribution centers in the country.

“Mi Súper” Dollar General opened its first location in Escobedo, Nuevo León, Mexico in March 2023, representing DG’s first international expansion. Mi Súper offer customers affordable, everyday low prices in convenient store locations, which includes financial services, a bakery and “tortilleria”.
