Michoacán continues to lead national production
Lemon production in Michoacán (Mexico) grew by 15% in the first half of the year, reaching 398,552 tonnes, according to the Agri-Food and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP). Michoacán continues to lead national production, followed by Veracruz and Colima. The Colimex variety is expected to further increase production in the second half of the year.
Lemon prices in Michoacán range between 34.24 and 35.60 pesos ($1.93 - $2.01) per kilogram. In addition, three biofactories have been inaugurated in La Huacana, Múgica and Nuevo Urecho, part of the Agrosano programme, which will benefit 7,500 hectares of crops with sustainable practices, reducing the use of agrochemicals and promoting healthier food.
