Avocado exports set to double within 5 years

With increasing demand in the international market, Kenya plans to double its avocado exports.
 
Local media mention that ASK's (Avocado Society of Kenya) target is to increase export earnings from KES 15 billion (USD 110.4 million) to KES 30 billion (USD 220.8 million). per year over the next 5 years.
 
ASK wants to continue to expand Kenyan avocado markets globally. The Kenyan fresh avocado has been hitting the Chinese market since last summer and then other markets like Malaysia and India. Other new destinations will soon be opened.
