Expected growth of 10% per annum for citrus exports

Strong upward trend in exports of citrus from Peru.
ProCitrus (Asociación de Productores de Cítricos del Perú) expects that this year exports will reach 100,000 metric tons (MT). ProCitrus believes that exports will continue to rise by an average of 10% a year.
Currently, in Peru 70,000 hectares of land are planted with citrus, and new plantations are planned. For some years the Peruvians citrus have increased their market share in the UK, Holland, USA, Canada and Russia. The opening of new markets (Japan, Korea, Brazil, the Middle East) in the near future will further increase the volume of exports.
