Spanish exports increased in value in 2017

Volume almost stable (+ 05.5%) but value up (1%) for Spanish exports, the red fruits record remarkable performances.

Spanish exports of Fruits & Vegetables in 2017 increased by 1% in value compared to 2016, totaling EUR 12,704 million, for a virtually stable volume of + 0.5% or 12.6 million tonnes. According to the data of the General Directorate of Customs handled by FEPEX.

 
 
Fruit rose by 3.6% in volume and 1.3% in value, amounting to 7.4 million tonnes and EUR 7,437 million. After citrus fruits, the main fruits sold abroad were stone fruits and berries, including strawberries, as well as large volumes of melon and watermelon. In 2017, the fruit berry boom, especially raspberries, stood out with 45,809 tonnes (+ 21%) worth EUR 346 million (+ 12.3%) and blueberries, with 46 510 tonnes (+ 27.4%)) and EUR 274.7 million (+ 5.5%).
 
 
 
Vegetable exports in 2017 fell by 3.7%, totaling 5.1 million tonnes, and the value increased by 1% to EUR 5,267 million. The main vegetables exported were tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, then cucumbers and cabbages.
