Apple and pear production falls in the valleys of Río Negro and Neuquén

Between January and July of the current year, 215,707 tons of pears were exported from the valleys of Río Negro and Neuquén (Argentina).

In the first seven months of 2022, the production of pears and apples in the valleys of Río Negro and Neuquén (Argentina) registered a decrease of 15% and 24%, respectively, compared to volumes achieved in the same period of the previous year, according to the Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa).
Between January and July of the current year, 215,707 tons of pears were exported, and in the same period of 2021, 254,640 tons were sent. This year some 62,857 T went to Brazil, (-7% year-on-year), 40,830 T to Russia (- 39%) and 39,901 T to the United States (-10%).
Of the 20 countries reported, only 6 increased their import volumes of pears, the Netherlands with 8,145 T (+44%); France with 5,558 T; Germany with 4,344 T; Israel with 2,312 T; United Arab Emirates with 1,869 T; and Spain with 1,221 T.
As for apples, between January and July 2022, 42,942 tons were exported, a 24% contraction compared to the same period last year when 56,301 tons were shipped.
Apple supplies from the Río Negro and Neuquén valleys have decreased in 16 of the 20 countries reported.
