SHAFFE, the Association of Fresh Fruit Exporters of the Southern Hemisphere was founded in 1991 and is made up of the main trade associations in the fruit and vegetable sector of various countries (South Africa, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, New Zealand, Peru, Uruguay) which Zimbabwe has just joined.
The announcement of this new member of SHAFFE (Southern Hemisphere Association of Fresh Fruit Exporters) was made during Fruit Logistica 2022: "We are very pleased to announce the addition of Zimbabwe to SHAFFE, represented by Zimbabwe Horticultural Development Council," said Nelli Hajdu, Secretary General of SHAFFE.
“Zimbabwe is proud to be a member of SHAFFE. We are participating in Fruit Logistica as an industry for the 1st time, and the reception has been fantastic. growth, especially in avocados, blueberries and citrus fruits, and we are very excited about the future of this collaboration with SHAFFE, which we are convinced will be very fruitful," said Linda Nielsen, CEO of the Zimbabwe Horticultural Development Council.
SHAFFE (Southern Hemisphere Association of Fresh Fruit Exporters) was founded in 1991. The association aims to connect the southern hemisphere fresh fruit industry, share relevant knowledge, facilitate market access and to promote the world fruit trade. According to association data 25% of the total global supply of fresh fruit comes from the southern hemisphere, the volume exported to the rest of the world reaches 11 million tonnes of fresh fruit with a value of around 15.8 billion USD per year.
