From week 18 of 2023 to week 8 of 2024, Peru's fresh blueberry exports totalled $1.661 billion (+16% compared to the $1.438 billion reached in the same period of the previous season), according to a Peruvian company's market analysis.
This increase in the value of exports is attributed to the increase in the price of the product in international markets. In the 2023/2024 season, the average price of blueberries reached $7.59 per kilogramme, which represents an increase of 46% compared to $5.19 per kilogramme on average in the 2022/2023 season.
However, despite the increase in value, a decrease in the volume of shipments is observed. During the period analysed of the current season, Peru shipped 217,000 tonnes of fresh blueberries, which represents a 22% contraction compared to the 280,000 tonnes shipped in the same period of the previous season.
Regarding the means of transport used, 95% of the shipments were made by sea, 4% by air and only 1% were exported by road.
