Consumption of strawberries has increased

Increase recorded for the consumption of strawberries in Italy.

The consumption of strawberries in Italy increased by +4% in 2013 compared to the previous year and by +13% compared with 2004, according to figures published by the CSO.

Between 2005 and 2007 the consumption reached 70,000 tons and has grown rapidly to 80 000 tons to reach 83000 tons in 2013. This increase is explained by an amplification of the production and multiplication of varieties that have allowed to extend the season and offer a variety of tastes and flavors to consumers.
