An algorithm to predict the best yields
FJ
Develop more efficient harvest plans in orchards.
Scientists from the University of Florida have developed a tool that can accurately estimate the amount of fruits on the trees and their maturity.
The algorithm uses photographs of a banal digital camera, identifies and determines the mature of fruits by color. Then it defines the most advanced and productive sectors. This allows to develop more effective harvest plans in citrus orchards.
The tool is still in the experimental phase, but scientists believe it be available for producers in less than 3 years.
