Peru secures another strong table grape export season

Cold treatment operations remained central to maintaining market access and handling large export volumes.
Peru exported 706,379 tonnes of table grapes during the 2025-2026 campaign, supplying 53 international markets and maintaining its position as the world’s leading exporter for the third consecutive year, according to the national plant health authority.
A key operational factor behind the result was the widespread use of cold treatment, which allows exporters to meet phytosanitary requirements in major destinations, particularly the United States. The system keeps fruit at low temperatures for a defined period to eliminate fruit fly risk without affecting product quality.
During the campaign, SENASA supervised 33,280 cold treatments in packing facilities, enabling shipments of 685,575 tonnes of grapes. An additional 20,804 tonnes were dispatched through refrigerated vessel inspections, mainly from the production regions of Piura and Ica.
Exports were heavily concentrated in a small number of markets. The United States accounted for 52% of shipments, followed by the Netherlands with 12% and Mexico with 9%, meaning these three destinations together represented 73% of total exports.
The export programme was supported by a large production base. Authorities authorised 121 packing plants and certified 23,356 hectares of vineyards, with the largest share located in Ica and Piura, the country’s main grape-growing regions.
