Cherries and blueberries are the two stars of Chilean exports

 The area dedicated to cherries increased from 7,125 hectares in 2005 to 16,932 hectares in 2013. The 2014 production is estimated at 101 033 tonnes, a 3-fold increase from 32 000 tonnes in 2005.

The volume of exports of fresh cherries was 85 190 tonnes in 2014. According to figures from FAS (Foreign Agricultural Service) Chile is the second largest cherry exporter after the United States.

Chile plans to export 89,000 tonnes this season cherries.Regarding blueberries (blueberry), areas increased from 1,360 hectares in 2005 to 14,506 hectares in 2014, an increase of over 1000%.

Production of course increased but not to the same extent, additional areas being new.Exports increased by 383% to a total of USD 503.9 million in 2014. Exports, which account for between 60% and 70% of production is destined mainly from the United States and the Netherlands.
