Peruvian lime exports between January and February 2022 reached 744,314 kilos, which reflects a drop of 32.2% compared to the 1,098,846 kilos exported in the same period of 2021, according to the president of the consulting firm Inform@cción, Fernando Cilloniz.
In January 2022, Peru exported 335,304 kilos of lime, and 409,010 kilos in February, while in 2021, 648,880 kilos were shipped in January and 449,966 kilos in February.
Lime is in good demand among Peruvians, because this fruit is used in national gastronomy (Ceviche, Pisco Sour, among others), however, it is not in demand abroad, and this explains the drop in exports, according to Cillóniz.
The main destinations of the Peruvian lime are Chile, Panama and the United States.
