The arrival of two ships carrying 3,000 tonnes of oranges from Egypt to the port of Castellón (Valencia, Spain) in early January worried local farmers, who called for stricter controls in ports and warehouses to ensure compliance with regulations.

In response, the Department of Agriculture announced an inspection plan to prevent the relabeling and fraudulent sale of fruit as a Valencian product, with a 375% increase in inspections during the campaign and without detecting irregularities on the labels.
