Moroccan agriculture has succeeded in using much less water for yields equivalent to or even higher than in previous years.
The Moroccan media quoted Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Fishing, as telling the House of Representatives. Mr Sadiki pointed out that Moroccan agricultural production currently consumes less than 1 billion cubic meters of water, instead of the 3 to 5 billion that were expected to be used by 2021.
This performance, according to the Minister, is the result of the strategies put in place with 'Plan Maroc Vert' and 'Génération Green 2020-2030'. These 2 programs cover a number of areas, including the introduction of more resilient agriculture (water efficiency, soil conservation, etc.).
