BCGA (British Carrot Growers Association) is organising National Carrot Day on 3 October in Yorkshire and online, to raise consumer awareness and safeguard the future of British carrot production.
With this National Carrot Day, BCGA wants to share with the public the many challenges (high production costs but low prices on supermarket shelves) but also the joys of carrot production. Consumers will be encouraged to buy, eat and cook carrots.
In the UK, carrots are harvested 12 months a year, and production reaches 700,000 tonnes a year.
