Lower yields will not have a significant impact on farmers
The WA Fruit Growers Association says late spring rain has caused a drop in yield for some south-west growers.
Above average rainfall and frosty conditions in the region during September caused disease to spread in some fruit crops.
The chairman of the Summer Fruit Council, Mark Wilkinson, says Manjimup farmers were the worst hit. But he says the lower yields will not have a significant impact on farmers.
"Depending on how low the yields go, the size comes up so you've got larger fruit which is worth more money, costs less to put in a bin, costs less to pack and send out and you get more money for it so to some extent they might get compensated," he said.
