The delivery followed months of commercial coordination between both countries.
Chilean apples from the O’Higgins region have entered the Paraguayan market for the first time, creating a new commercial outlet for the country’s fruit exports, according to ProChile and regional authorities.
The inaugural shipment arrived in Asunción after travelling more than 2,200 kilometres from central Chile. The consignment totalled 1,274 boxes, equivalent to about 26 tonnes, and included fresh apple varieties such as Royal Gala, Granny Smith and Red apples.
Opening a new destination for Chilean fruit
Officials indicated that the export followed months of coordination between exporters, logistics operators and importers, including commercial visits and technical preparations to ensure distribution in Paraguay. The move is intended to strengthen regional trade links and diversify markets for Chilean fruit producers.
Industry representatives noted that Paraguay offers favourable logistics conditions due to its geographic proximity and demand for imported fresh fruit. The first shipment is expected to support future exports and broaden opportunities for producers in the O’Higgins region.
