In the European Union, production of oranges and mandarins fell in the 2023/24 marketing year, while production of grapefruit and lemons rose.
According to a FAS (Foreign Agricultural Service) report issued by the USDA, the US Department of Agriculture, in the 2023/24 marketing year, EU orange production is expected to total 5.475 million tonnes, down 1.88% on the 2022/23 marketing year (5.580 million tonnes).
EU production of mandarins and tangerines in the 2023/24 marketing year should total 2.650 million tonnes, down 10.08% on the 2022/23 marketing year (2.947 million tonnes).
EU grapefruit production in the 2023/24 marketing year should total 108,000 tonnes, up 10.2% on the 2022/23 marketing year (98,000 tonnes).
EU lemon production in 2023/24 is expected to total 1.673 million tonnes, up 15.14% on 2022/23 (1.453 million tonnes).
