The CDK advocates a strict control of pollen to help stop the spread of Psa.
Chile now has 30 orchards affected by Psa bacterium (Pseudomonas syringae pv actinidiae).
SAG (Servicio Agricola y Ganadero) says 30 kiwifruit orchards have been diagnosed positive, mostly located in the region of Maule. SAG asked for preventive measures to contain the spread including the disinfection of tools, control of the movement of people and
plant material.
Although there is no scientific evidence that pollen transmit the disease, the CDK recommends avoiding the pollen from the orchards in the contaminated area or near orchards. The CDK also spoke of the need to be careful with the imported pollen and avoiding endemic countries.
