Profi 1700 stores now on the hands of Ahold in Romania

Ahold Delhaize confirmed the completion of the acquisition of Romanian food retailer Profi Rom Food SRL (Profi) from Mid-Europa for approximately EUR 1.3 billion. The acquisition doubles Ahold Delhaize's retail footprint in Romania, which currently operates nearly 1,000 stores under the Mega Image brand. The complementary strengths of Profi and Mega Image will enhance their ability to serve customers in both urban and rural areas, drive growth and offer more choice and value to customers in Romania.

Profi is a leading traditional food retailer in Romania, operating approximately 1,700 supermarkets and convenience stores. It is known for its strong assortment and value to customers. In the twelve months ended June 2024, the company generated net sales of EUR 2.7 billion. This combination will complement and expand the current Ahold Delhaize footprint in Romania to better serve customers in both urban and rural areas.
