The event provides direct contact between exporters and international importers.
Macfrut once again proved its practical value for exporters, with Peruvian producer organisations securing purchase intentions worth USD 6.2 million during the 2026 edition held from 21 to 23 April in Italy.
Four producer groups from Áncash, Ayacucho, Tacna and Lambayeque travelled to the event with technical and commercial support from Agromercado, an agency of Peru’s Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation. Their participation focused on presenting export-ready products and meeting buyers directly on the exhibition floor.
Buyers show strong interest in avocados, mangoes and specialty products
Across three days, the organisations held 79 business meetings with importers from Asia, Europe and the Americas. Discussions centred on products with clear export demand, including Hass avocados, mangoes and oregano oil.
The largest commercial outlook came from Asociación Agrofrutos, which generated expected business of USD 3.84 million after meetings with buyers from Italy, Chile, China and Russia. Planned shipments are scheduled to begin in February 2027.
Ediflor reported projected deals worth USD 1.90 million, driven by demand for avocados and avocado-based products from buyers in Costa Rica, Italy, the Netherlands, Dubai and Thailand. Sales of avocado oil could be finalised in the third quarter of 2026, while fresh fruit shipments are expected in early 2027.
Oromun recorded projected purchases of USD 196,800 for oregano oil from buyers in China, Türkiye and the Dominican Republic, with transactions expected later this year. Asociación Torobamba also reported progress, holding 18 meetings with Italian buyers and generating projected business of USD 256,000, with agreements likely to close toward the end of 2026.
A working platform for real negotiations
Organisers and participating institutions indicated that international competition increasingly depends not only on product quality but also on the ability to respond quickly to buyers and present a clear, organised supply offer. Their role, they explained, is to prepare producer groups to negotiate confidently and turn market interest into signed contracts.
The results achieved in Italy show how trade fairs such as Macfrut provide a practical environment where producers can meet buyers face to face, test demand and move discussions forward toward concrete business.
