Potato production 4.5 million tons

Peruvian potato production will reach 4.5 million tonnes this year.

CORPAPA, the umbrella organization of potato producers in Peru, announces an area of 215,000 hectares, which will cause a production of 4.5 million tonnes in 2015.

Potatoes are produced in 19 of 24 regions. CORPAPA also indicates that the average yield of 12.5 tonnes per hectare, while less than 10 tonnes per hectare there 8 years. The main variety is the culitvée Canchan variety (60% of total), the variety Yungay variety represents only 10%, other many varieties (30%).
