Since 1 July 2013, Croatia is a member of EU.
The EU now has 28 members with the arrival of Croatia. Its population is approximately 4.2 million inhabitants, 20% of which are unemployed. The country hopes that adherence to the EU will encourage foreign investment and will boost the economy.
2 times as large as Belgium, Croatia has achieved the self-sufficient for some products (wheat, corn, poultry, eggs, honey, wines) and imports the rest. Croatia has imported 1.9 billion euros of food products, its main suppliers are Germany (13.03%), Italy (10.91%), the Netherlands (7.80%) .
In the north and east of the country, agriculture is more intensive (wheat, sugar beet, maize, barley, rye, sunflower, beans, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, vines) in the mountainous center (potato earth, fruits) in the south and the Adriatic coast (fruit, vines, olives). The main customers are Croatia Bosnia and Herzegovina (28.58%), Italy (9.91%), Slovenia (9.31%), Serbia (7.14%).
