The organic continues to gain ground in Switzerland

It is confirmed the success of organic farming and organic market, and development continues.

According to the latest report by Bio Suisse, the number of farms that have converted to organic production in 2012 has almost doubled, compared to 2011. Last year 245 new producers have entered the Swiss organic market, and now about 5,731 farms operate according to the specifications of the Federation. The share of organic farming now accounts for 11, 3% of the branch, against 10.9% a year earlier.

With regard to the retail trade, labeled products increased by 5.3%, reaching a turnover of 1.83 billion Swiss francs, "a new record" according to Bio Suisse.
